Amanda VogelAmanda is 28 and started sprint racing for a few years on a recreational level. She wanted to advance in the sport, so she asked around and found Ed & Tasha Stielstra at Nature's Kennel, who she describes as "wonderful mentors". Amanda purchased six of their dogs and will borrow two for the race this year. Amanda says her dogs are her own personal dream team, with Buz and Winsome in lead. When she's not mushing, Amanda's interests are running, biking, waterskiing, camping, hunting and just about anything outdoors. How does she feel so far about her first season, first pro class races and first distance races? Amanda replies "I'm an all-around rookie having a blast and trying to learn as much as I possibly can along the way. I am always positively impressed with how many mushers have been nice enough to take time and help out a rookie along the way. Hoping I can do this team justice, they're really great, experienced dogs. Their racing experience includes Taquamenon, Apostle Islands, Midnight Run, UP 200, Iditarod, and on and on. Mine includes the Taquamenon. That's it. Period. Soooooo, hopefully I learned alot, made some improvements, and won't handicap the team too much this time around. "
